Obituary of John Mackie
John Patrick “Mack” Mackie, 73, of Staten Island,NY, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2017 in Schenectady NY.
John was born in Jersey City, NJ to Frances Biancomano and Edward Mackie on March, 22, 1944.
He worked as a painter/contractor for 40 years. John enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, yard sales, reading and studying the bible, milkshakes and anything sweet. He was a talented artist and was a very devote Jehovah Witness.
“Mack” moved upstate from Staten Island in 2010 after a brief illness. He resided with his son John and his daughter in law Allison where he was able to recover and start a new life. He found great pleasure in helping people, especially his family. He quickly made many friends around town and within the Kingdom Hall congregation in Bethlehem.
“Mack” was a selfless, kind, generous man who always put other before himself and his greatest pride and joy in life was his son John.
John is survived by his son, John (Allison) Mackie of Delmar, NY, his brothers Richard (Kathy) Mackie of New Jersey and Michael Mackie of Staten Island, his granddaughters Bianca and Sarah, cousins, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Blanche, his parents Frances and Edward, and siblings Bobby, Eddie, Alice and Margie.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, July 22nd from 1 to 4 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 21st at 7 pm at Bethlehem Kingdom Hall, 385, Elm Ave., Selkirk, NY 12158

Who We Are
Applebee Funeral Home has been serving Delmar and its surrounding communities since 1904. This stately brick building is a defining point of Delmar's Four Corners. However, it was in Clarksville where the family's first funeral home was located at the Clark House, a Greek revival style home built by Adam Clark in the mid 1820's.
