Obituary of Mary June Carey

Mary June Carey passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at The Eddy Village Green in Cohoes. June was born on July 29th 1929, the daughter of the late John and Pearl (Savoy) Mellett. She was raised in the Inwood section of Manhattan and attended Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School and Cathedral High School. In 1950, she married the late Milliard Francis Carey and they raised a family in Pearl River, New York where she was active at St. Aedan's Catholic Church and in various civic activities. Mill and June were married for 61 years. She loved nothing more than summers with her family at the Jersey shore. Through her working years she served as an executive assistant to the president at Mini-Grip in Orangeburg and to the Chief Medical Officer at St. Dominic's Home in Blauvelt. After retirement, they moved to Toms River, NJ, and later to the Albany area to be close to family. June is survived by her children, Barbara Hoffman (Jerry) of Slingerlands, Dorothy Carey of New York City, James Carey of Canajoharie and John Carey (Sandra) of Lexington, Kentucky. Her 7 grandchildren are Julia Camarco (Greg), Caitlin Brion (Daniel), Madeline Carey-Grant (Russell) Robert Hoffman, James Carey, Jesse Hoffman, and Erica Carey. Her great-grandchildren are Brady and Lila Camarco. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, May 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl, Delmar, NY 12054 followed by internment at Saratoga National Cemetery at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be considered to either The Eddy Village Green, 421 Columbia Street Ext., Cohoes, NY 12047 or to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
