Obituary of Cynthia M. Collins

GLENMONT – Cynthia “Cindy” M. (Corsi) Collins, 60, died Monday, October 10, 2016, at Albany Medical Center after a brain tumor and its’ related complications. Cindy was born in Elmira, NY where she attended Notre Dame High School, followed by Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. Cindy and her husband, Mark lived in Denver, CO before relocating to Glenmont, NY in 1979. She worked at Anchor Insurance Agency and had recently retired this past April. She is well known to her family and friends as a person who loved creative expressions including music, art, poetry, film and literature, which resulted in her having loving connections with people all over this country and planet and shared these interests with her two fabulous children, Trevor and Katie and kindred daughter-in-law, Nicole. Cindy particularly enjoyed music and would travel with her husband throughout the country and beyond to attend various concerts, including her favorite band, Big Head Todd and the Monsters. From her father, she also loved her NY Yankees and spent considerable time trying to convert her Yankee-hating friends. Most significantly, she was a great artist who, similar to her love of the blues, was able to capture joy, pain and struggle on canvas. We hope these traits will someday influence her new most precious granddaughter, Ava. Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Mark; and their devoted children, Trevor (Nicole) Collins of Delmar, NY and their daughter, Ava; and Katherine Collins of Troy, NY; beloved father, John Corsi and stepmother, Mary Margaret Corsi of Elmira, NY; brothers, John (Cynthia) Corsi of Interlaken, NY; Daniel (Christa) Corsi of Waxhaw, NC; and David (Chelle) Corsi of Webster, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Justin Collins; and her beloved mother, Regina Corsi. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 4 to 7pm. Cindy’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, at 9:30am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar. Those who wish may make memorial donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities, 139 South Lake Avenue, Albany, NY 12208.
