Obituary of Kenneth F. Hoffman

CLARKSVILLE – Kenneth F. Hoffman, Jr., 79, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born February 18, 1937 in Hudson, NY, he was the son of the late Kenneth F. Hoffman, Sr. and Katherine G. Burns and stepson of the late Howard J. Slingerland. He was married to his "Bride", the late Shirley R. Warner, whom he met when he was 12 years old and spent almost their entire life together. He was the father of Virginia (Ron) Thompson and Wayne (Grace) Hoffman; a second father to Amy Hollner and Darlene Stanton; grandfather of Ronald Thompson, Angie Zabel and the late Jody Zabel; great grandfather of Adrianna Bradt and Aaron Darnell; brother of Robert (Bev) Hoffman, Brian (Sharon) Slingerland, Paula Cole (Mike Jones), Bobbi Lynne (Tom) Hoover, Jean (Marc) Paquin, Howard (Val) Slingerland, Jeffrey (Toni) Slingerland, Noreen (Richard) Berenger and the late Jacqueline (Arthur) Avery, Joyce Hoffman and Gerald Slingerland; lifelong friend of Richard (Laura) Harvey; brother-in-law of Richard (Rae) Warner and Carol (Charles) Burometto. Many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews also survive. Kenneth worked for the US Postal Service for 34 years retiring in August of 1997. Prior to his illness, Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and being outdoors. He was a nature lover. He also loved to read and watch John Wayne movies. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his "Bride", family, and many friends whom he considered family. His children would like to thank the following for all their services, help and caring through this difficult time: family, friends and neighbors; Onesquethaw Ambulance; St. Peter's Hospital; Community Hospice, especially his nurse Sheila and his aide Celestin; and the many others who stood by our side.
