Obituary of Patricia deRouville Brown

DELMAR- Patricia Jane deRouville Brown, 89, died Monday, April 20, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital following a short illness. She was the daughter of Kenneth Fuller deRouville and Jennie “Jane” Reese deRouville. Born in Albany on September 6, 1925, she was a resident of Delmar. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, John Cameron Brown, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Patricia (Keith) Peters of Matamoras, PA; a son, John Cameron Brown, III “Terry” (Fransien) of Marion, NC; grandchildren, Zachary Alexander Peters and his companion, Leslie Sikora, of Matamoras, PA; Amanda Victoria (David) Ellis of Belle Haven, VA; great-granddaughter, Macy Mae Ellis of Belle Haven, VA; and god-daughter Celia B.F. Souza (John Ferraro) of Clifton Park, NY. Pat graduated from The Milne School in 1943 and New York State College for Teachers in 1947. During her undergraduate years she worked in the Library at the State Education Department. She went on to get her Masters in Library Science from SUNY Albany. Pat and her husband spent ten happy years living in Hollis, NH where they designed and built their dream house and raised their children. In 1965, they relocated back to the Capital District to be closer to family. Throughout her lifetime, Pat was an active volunteer with many organizations. She served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, as well as on the Board for the Girl Scouts in Delmar. She served as a board member and President of Vanguard-Albany Symphony where she was instrumental in starting the Show House fundraiser. Pat also served on the Board of Directors of Nelson House of the Episcopal Diocese of Albany. As a faithful communicant of the Cathedral of All Saints she helped organize the annual Medieval Faire. When Pat was not volunteering, she enjoyed spending time weaving, as well as painting. She was an avid reader and always did the Sunday NY Times crossword puzzle in pen! A solemn Eucharist of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10:30 am at the Cathedral of All Saints, 62 South Swan St., Albany. Her remains will be immured in the Cathedral Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cathedral of All Saints, the American Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice.
