Obituary of Sandra Filkins

WESTERLO - Sandra Lynn (Scoons) Filkins, 68 of Westerlo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Sandy was raised in Albany, NY and was a graduate of Albany High School. She worked for many years at Time Life Magazine and later at The Albany Academy for Boys. Sandra was the daughter of the late Ernest and Leona Scoons. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 31 years Judson D. Filkins, and their daughter Stacey (Potter) Woodworth and her husband Lance Woodworth. She was the beloved grandmother to Judson and Hannah Woodworth. Sandy is also survived by her loving sister Patricia Hotaling and the late William (Bill) Hotaling, along with nephews Brett and Liz Hotaling, Chad and Casey Hotaling and niece Paige Parker along with six great nieces and nephews, and many cousins and close friends including her childhood best friend, Nancy Foster. Sandy will be remembered for her beautiful smile and loving heart. She was an avid antique and jewelry collector and loved to travel with her husband. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, February 19, from 3 to 6 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave, Delmar. A service will be held Sunday at 6 pm in the funeral home. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to St. Peter's Hospice staff for their care and compassion.
