Obituary of Margaret Leather

DELMAR – Margaret "Mardie" Leather, 92, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 in the Worcester, MA area. Born in Malone, NY, she was the daughter of the late Royal and Genevieve (Rozon) Gibbo. Mardie attended Alfred University for Ceramic Design and taught art in the Albany School System. She was a very active volunteer, sharing her time and talents with the Historical Society of Early American Decoration, the American Institute of History and Art, the State Museum of Albany and St Thomas the Apostle Church. She also enjoyed traveling and spending summer vacations at Chateaugay Lake. Survivors include her husband Robert P. Leather, MD; children, Jonathan M. Leather, Catherine Klein, Gregory P. Leather and Geoffrey T. Leather; grandchildren, Kathleen Leather Engle, Stephen and Fiona Leather, Heather and Amanda Klein and David and Allison Leather; and great grandchildren, Simon, Graham and Adalaide Engle. She was predeceased by a brother, Royal "Bud" Gibbo. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 am Wednesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Malone.
