Obituary of Marie A. Andriano

DELMAR - On Thursday, February 3, 2011, the world lost a truly amazing woman, her children lost an incredible mother, her grandchildren lost their wonderful "Nanny", and her nieces and nephews lost their fun loving "Aunt Mickey". Marie "Mickey" Andriano passed away with her loving family by her side after a long battle with cancer. It was a difficult battle with many hurdles along the way, it may have broken her physically but it did not break her faith or her deep love for her family. She was a strong, beautiful woman, a true hero to all who knew her. She lost the love of her life, Frank, in 1972, when he was 40 years old. She worked numerous jobs to make ends meet and raised her three children by herself. Mickey did an amazing job raising Tom, Michael and Frannie, who were the center of her life. She loved spending time with all of her grandchildren who brought joy and happiness to her. Family and respect meant everything to Mickey. Even through her illness, she always did for others. Whether it was friends or relatives, she was always thinking of the needs of others. She enjoyed bowling, belly dancing, and was an outstanding cook who loved to feed everyone. She was famous for her meatballs and sauce and would say "you don't have to be hungry to eat, just eat". She was the life of the party always telling jokes and funny stories. She will truly be missed by all who knew her and loved her. She was truly a classy lady. The pain of her loss is overwhelming and the void of her presence can never be replaced, but the love that she gave will live on in our hearts forever and the wonderful memories that she left with us will stay vivid in our minds always. Mickey is survived by two sons, Thomas Andriano of Schenectady, Michael Andriano (Fern) of Delmar and Frances Markel (Robert) of Feura Bush; a brother, Robert Amabile of Brooklyn; grandchildren, Michelle Saroka (Mark) and Frank T. Andriano, Brianna and Gregory Markel, and Karlie and Cody Haack; a great granddaughter, Marissa Andriano; son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Haack; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Mickey was predeceased by her parents, John and Celia Amabile; brothers, Pat, George, Tony, John and Peter and sisters, Nellie, Alice and Jean. The family would like to thank the staff at NYOH in Albany and Latham, Dr. Peter Lamparello, Dr Christopher Calder whom she credits for saving her life in 2008, St. Peter's staff, her nurse Erin, aide Tiara, Sister Mary Frederick from St Thomas the Apostle Church and Sandy Clyne and Lynn Caldwell who took such wonderful care of her, the many friends and relatives who visited, sent cards, called and sent meals; also, the wonderful staff from Bethlehem Senior Services. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Bethlehem Senior Services, 445 Delaware Ave., Delmar, NY 12054 or Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205
